About Us

School Reformer organises online meetings with teachers, school heads, university experts, education service providers, role models, and others.

The purpose of these interactions is to transform education in India.

School Reformer is an innovative education venture with a half-century of pedigree. It has its origins in a newsletter published by a rural school founded in 1962 by Shri V.Isvarmurti, a graduate of Santiniketan and the University of Oxford.

Located in Pichanur village in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, the school (called “International School”) was run as an experimental school and attracted visitors from abroad, including volunteers from the American peace corps.

The physical village school no longer exists. But the school newsletter that started in the early 1960s continued over the years. In the mid-1990s, the newsletter evolved into an education print magazine (called “School Journal of Education”) with an all India reach.  We also ran a website called “India School News” for a few years.

Today in the form of School Reformer, we are an online platform to encourage discussion and conversations in education.

The managing editor of School Reformer is Kartik Isvarmurti, a graduate of the Delhi School of Economics and the University of Oxford.
